Fun board, but there needs to be a way to jump or portal around the map. Once one person secures either end, they only have 1 way to push and if they are big enough there is nothing other players can do. Would like to see this map a bit more multi-dimensional.
This rating may be premature as I am only finishing up my second game on this map, and it seems a little unbalanced. First time I played, i drew a northwestern start location and dominated. 2nd time I played, I drew the southern most location (pink) and felt like I didn't stand a chance before I even took a turn. Blue, Red, and Pink are very close together, and its only natural that red and blue would both attack south to grab the bottom right corner and then work their way Northwest. Keeping this in mind, Pink is well under matched to defend with both Blue and Red starting out with more unit income, not to mention that in most cases, Pink will be fighting a 2 fronted war. It seems that a few tweaks, including giving Pink additional income could improve the balance of this map. Excellent Graphics.
Superb indeed. I love this map. Only critical remark would be that there is certainly a sweet spot for the number of players. Too many and you could get shafted on a single territory bonus. Also, if you play a 2-player game, in many cases you will see the player who goes first have an immediate advantage. In spite of this, I still like this for a 2 player game! More people need to be rating this board higher.
Great stuff. nice twist on an old classic map. Love the sudden death feature (first map I have played with it). Only negative was that I was a bit disappointed that there was little benefit to knocking someone out besides getting their remaining armies, which in this case was not much each time. Maybe a 5-10 army elimination bonus since you do not get the cards. Even still, I like the map how it is because it creates a unique strategical(?) thought process.
I first played this on WF, and nearly won a tourney on it. Regardless, I love it here too. Great idea EN! One of my favorites. Of course it doesn't hurt that I have THE top rating on it at the time of this review! ;-)
